Sometimes one of the hardest things to do in life is trust. Trust each other. Trust ourselves. Trust God.

When we put our trust in something, or someone, we are ultimately letting go of control. Releasing the ever so tight fisted grip of control we have around a situation and putting our faith in someone else to handle. This is not easy to do, for anyone.  Me included.

I signed up to go on an Expedition (missions) trip with an organization called E3 Partners.  It’s an amazing organization that goes out into the world sharing Jesus, while also teaching about AIDS, Malaria, setting up Medical clinics, reaching out through sports, and very recently, like yesterday, released a tool designed to raise awareness and educate on human trafficking called the Priceless Cube.  They do SO much more than I can do justice here, or even talk about, but you can check them out here.

If you have ever been on a missions trip, you understand that a lot of work goes into preparing for this.  Mentally.  Spiritually.  Physically.  Financially.  There are so many different elements that go into the planning and preparing, and they almost never go as planned.  No matter how much time and effort you put into planning and preparing for it.

Which all goes back to letting go of control and just trusting in a God that is bigger than our circumstances, no matter how big we think they are.  Trusting that He will take care of it.  Trusting that He will protect and guide us every step of the way.  We just need to let go of the control.  Let go and let God.  Not relying on our human ability, but relying on our God’s ability to move in a powerful way when we step out of the way and release our grip.

I officially leave July 4th for this trip….that’s 29 days from today.  15 days from today, I should have all my funds in.  All $2,850 of it.  Yet I’ve only got out 40% of it.  To get the rest, I would need to raise about $72 a day until the due date.

I could go on and on about the numbers, but then I know I would be focusing on what the numbers, the dates, the world tell me, instead of what my God tells me.  Let go of control, focus on Him, and trust that He will provide.

So that is exactly what I’m choosing to do.

I’m not going to worry about it.  Not going to check my fund account every 2 minutes to see if anything has changed, if any more money has come in.  Because ultimately my focus is on Him.  My Heavenly Father, who is my Provider.  He will make a way.  And although I do not know where the funds will come from, how they will come, or even when, I’m releasing control of it and letting Him work, trusting on His goodness He’s shown to me in so many ways throughout my life.  And I’m going to focus on the mission.

We will be going to the mountain town of Cusco, Peru.  It’s elevation is 11,000 feet.  A little higher than my hometown Monument, Colorado of 7,000 feet.  We will be working with local churches there, strengthening them, equipping them with tools that they can use to evangelize the Gospel and continue working there after we leave (after all, they are the ones who live and breath there…not us), and establish new churches.  We will also be setting up eye and sunglass clinics in a different area everyday to love on the people.  Many people in this town have failing eyesight because they do not have resources like we do to be able to go see the eye doctor and get a pair of eyeglasses.  They are also so close to the sun and outside all day, they have never had a pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes from the rays, which then also can cause eye diseases.  Many of these people can no longer work for a living because they cannot see.  These glasses can bring back clarity in their eyesight so that they can being to see more clearly and work again.

I have never been to South America, or the other side of the Equator.  Being able to go and meet these people, sharing Jesus’ love with them and hearing their stories, still feels like a dream.  A dream that I will get to wake up from in about 30 days.  There is still work to be done before I go.  The closer it gets, the more excited I get.  God is so good and I seriously can’t wait.

I would love and be so blessed for all of you to be involved in any way that you can.  I, along with our team, need your prayers!  Your prayers before, during, and after your trips mean more to me than anything.  There is power in it and we need it!  For protection, provision, guidance, and favor!  If you want to help financially fund this, I would be grateful and humbled in this as well.  You can go to my fundraising page here to donate online, or you can make a check out to E3 Partners and send to 1117 Glyndon Dr, Plano, TX 75023.

I will be writing about this trip while we are there, which makes me even more excited!  I’m hoping some of my team members will also write and share some of their stories and experiences.
